WHAT COOKIES ARE
Cookies are small text strings that the sites visited by the user send to their terminal (usually the browser) where they are stored before being re-transmitted to the same sites during the same visit to the site (session cookies) or later. , even after days (persistent cookies). Cookies are stored, according to user preferences, by the single browser on the specific device used (computer, tablet, smartphone).
While browsing a site, the user can also receive cookies on his terminal that are sent from different sites or web servers (so-called "third parties"), on which some elements may reside (such as, for example, images, maps, sounds, specific links to pages of other domains) present on the site that the same is visiting.
Cookies, usually present in users' browsers in very large numbers and sometimes even with characteristics of wide temporal persistence, are used for different purposes: execution of computer authentication, session monitoring, storage of information on specific configurations concerning users who access the server, etc.
In the remainder of this document we will refer to cookies and all similar technologies by simply using the term "cookie".
TYPES OF COOKIES
The Provision of the Privacy Guarantor "Identification of simplified procedures for the information and the acquisition of consent for the use of cookies - May 8, 2014 (GU n. 126 of June 3, 2014)" identifies two macro-categories of cookies: "technical" cookies and "profiling" cookies.
"Technical" cookies
Technical cookies are those used for the sole purpose of "carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network, or as strictly necessary for the provider of an information society service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user to provide this service "(see Article 122, paragraph 1, of the Code).
They are not used for other purposes and are normally installed directly by the website owner or manager. They can be divided into navigation or session cookies, which guarantee the normal navigation and use of the website; analytics cookies, similar to technical cookies when used directly by the site manager to collect information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and how they visit the site; functionality cookies, which allow the user to navigate according to a series of selected criteria in order to improve the service provided.
For the installation of these cookies it is not necessary to acquire a prior consent from users, while the obligation to provide information pursuant to art. 13 of EU Regulation 679/2016, which the site manager, if he uses only such devices, will be able to provide in the manner he deems most suitable.
The site uses technical cookies:
django_language to memorize the language chosen by the user and reuse it when he returns to the site;
high_contrast to store if the user uses the site with the high contrast mode;
csrftoken, a code generated by the server to protect against csrf attacks;
Cookie management
Users can decide whether or not to accept cookies using their browser settings.
Even partial disabling of technical or third-party cookies could compromise the use of some features of the site.
The best browsers allow you to define different settings for proprietary cookies and for those of third parties.
